Guild classifications include On-Call Editor, Animation Editor, Animation Assistant Editor, Assistant Editor.
Job Titles include Animatic Editor, Animatic Assistant Editor, Associate Editor.
Thus, data is mixed due to mixed responses
High levels of importance for improvement:
Additional Notes:
Unrealistic schedules that don’t account for setup nor mentorship time while being hired too late in the process.
Shrinking teams mean less time to mentor.
Close the pay gap between Animatic and Picture Editors and Assistant Editors. Including hourly contributions guarantee. Close the pay gap between Animation and Live-Action Editors.
Series have been consolidating Animatic and Picture Editor roles into one position, with no increases in pay or additional team support. There should be pay increases to reflect the additional work and stricter job protections.
Education on classification issues which go hand-in-hand with pay disparity. Examples are Picture vs Animatic Editor in series, and Associate Editors in features. Abolish Animation Editor classification at MPEG.
Maybe the role of Animation Post Supervisor can be included in contract job descriptions, to avoid Picture Editors taking on non-editorial administrative tasks.
Storyboard artists being asked to edit/time their boards. Need TAG to protect and hold TAG members accountable to avoid encroachment.
Fear of outsourcing.
Find a way to close the loophole that allows companies with single facility contracts to hire non-union sound.
Gauging the future of WFH/hybrid/studio.
More inclusivity within the union.
Animation is not just for children.
